What to know about versions

Every version of the game needs its own Java. Older releases run on Java 8, the 1.18–1.20.4 branch on Java 17, the 1.21 branch on Java 21, and the 2026 releases on Java 25. JustLauncher picks and downloads the right build itself, so there is no separate Java to install.

Mod loaders are not available for every version. Forge covers almost all of them, Fabric starts at 1.14, NeoForge at 1.20.2. The table shows what each version supports.

Since 2026 Mojang numbers releases by date: 26.3 is the third major release of 2026, not «1.26.3». The last version using the old scheme was 1.21.11.
