New Cave Generation
This update gave us the long-awaited new cave generation. Now caves extend down to negative heights, as low as -60. They're filled with new blocks, axolotls, and of course, because of their scale, you'll run into hostile mobs more often. Caves can now differ from one another, since lush caves, karst caves, water-filled caves, and other cave types have appeared, each distinct from the rest.
Meadow

A new biome that smells of fresh air. The air here is very clean and it's always cool, since it's usually found at the foot of mountains. It has a flat shape and is covered in grassy vegetation. A village or a pillager outpost can also appear here, so be careful!
What can you find in this biome?
Sheep, rabbits, and donkeys often live in this biome. As mentioned earlier, the flora here is quite rich in flowers, namely roses, tulips, poppies, and others. Bees also love this place, so if you see a lone oak or birch tree standing by itself, it will always have a bee nest on it.
Grove

This biome represents a mix of spruce trees and snowy mountains. Due to the harsh climate, water here turns to ice, and grass blocks and any other grassy vegetation are completely absent. This grove only generates near taiga and dark forests.
What can you find in this biome?
Despite there being no hints of food at all, this place is inhabited - mostly by wolves and foxes. But you can also come across goats and even rabbits.
Jagged Peaks

One of the highest biomes you can encounter in this game. Mountain height can reach up to 256, so be careful not to fall.
What can you find in this biome?
Because of such high mountains, the only thing you'll find here are goats, since only they can safely climb up and down these tall cliffs.
Frozen Peaks

The frozen variant forms on less steep and shorter peaks, rarely occupying the higher areas, and appears near cold or snowy biomes such as taiga and snowy plains. Snow blocks and layers cover a large area of these peaks, occasionally broken up by patches of regular and packed ice.
What can you find in this biome?
These mountains are also inhabited mainly by mountain goats and hostile mobs.
Snowy Slopes

It's not for nothing this biome is called the Snowy Slopes - there's a whole lot of snow here and very steep slopes. These mountains mostly generate near regular plains. There's a very thick snow layer of 2-4 blocks, and powder snow is common. A great place to build a Christmas cabin or a ski slope. This is the only mountain biome where an igloo can generate.
What can you find in this biome?
Despite how snowy this place is, you can find goats and white rabbits here.
Stony Peaks

Unlike the other new biomes, this one has no snow on its peaks or ice blocks. It often generates near deserts, savannas, badlands, and jungles. A pillager outpost can also be found here.
What can you find in this biome?
Despite the lack of cold and snow, rabbits, sheep, goats, and other livestock don't live here. Dangerous mobs will spawn here instead.
